As you know, this week Rough Cut Soap Co. is debuting The Cocktail Collection line. And today’s star is the Bee’s Knees. No seriously, that’s the name and even how one might describe it. This soap was inspired by a cocktail that emerged during a time when you could only get your hands on illegal, poor quality, backstreet bathtub gin. To make the cocktail more enjoyable honey and lemon were added. When recreating this prohibition era cocktail, we had a need for Meade. An alcoholic drink of fermented honey and water just seemed like the perfect fit. With a recipe as simple as this one, you don’t need to be a wealthy American millionairess partying in Paris to try it for yourself. No need for airfare either, you can try it tomorrow at Carlton Ladies Night. It’ll be all the buzz! Cheers!
Bee’s Knees
Ingredients - 2 oz BRD Slabtown Barrel Reserve Gin - ¾ oz honey simple syrup (equal parts honey & water, medium heat in a saucepan just to combine) - ¾ oz dry mead - ¼ oz fresh squeezed and strained lemon juice
Directions Add all ingredients to a shaker with ice. Shake until the outside of the shaker is chilled. Pour into coupe glass. We like to balance a lavender sprig over the top for the garnish.
