Bold Filipino Flavors with Chef Carlo Lamagna at Magna Kusina

We first met Chef Carlo Lamagna back in the summer of 2017 when we did a collab for a Growing Gardens “Chef in My Garden” dinner. The meal was unforgettable and we knew he was going to do big things.


Now he’s at the helm of Magna Kusina, an award-winning modern Filipino restaurant "born with the idea of family in mind" and dedicated to sharing culture through bold, expressive food and drink.


We did a little R&D of our own on a cocktail they’ve been making over there, where they take our Bull Run Bourbon and infuse it with bone marrow. The result? Ninong the Headhunter, a rich, savory cocktail built with PX Sherry, Amaretto, and Amaro — a thoughtful, standout libation with real personality.


Huge shoutout to Sean behind the bar for bringing it to life and repping local spirits. Oregon craft distilleries like ours feel that support and we’re grateful for it.
